I take some really beautiful acrylic stamps by Autumn Leaves . They are "Swirls and Flourishes. As well take some alpha stamps past Anna Griffin.

I volition mostly be stamping on newspaper. Which type of ink do you apply the most?

I heard that Tim Holtz pigment ink "beads up" (and takes forever to dry), and StazsOn ink stains the stamp. Take non purchased whatsoever dye ink yet.

What type of ink do y'all use and get good results?

If you are just going to stamp, dye ink will work fine. It dries apace, works well on paper. Tim Holtz distressed inks are dye inks, but they do take a little longer to dry out. If you plan to emboss, you need to apply either embossing or pigment ink- they stay wet longer and will hold the embossing pulverization. StazOn is made to be used on nonporous surfaces and is a solvent ink.

I stand corrected, Tim Holz is a dye ink (non pigment).

I do not plan to exercise embossing so I guess in that location is no reason for me to buy a pigment ink.

I do plan to use StazOn for transparencies, (is this a pigment or dye ink)? And is information technology hard to clean off my stamps?

Some say clean stamps with baby wipes, some say soap and h2o. I know they make a special production for cleaning stamps (past Technique Tuesday ).

Anyone tried that production?

I haven't tried any cleaning solutions to clean my stamps I but used regualr infant wipes and have non had a trouble. and I've been using them for a yr now. my judge would be its your preference on which y'all adopt to utilize. hope that helps some

As far as the babe wipes go, is at that place a certain kind to purchase, i thought i saw something on this before and "they" said non to get the wipes with "???" in it - and i deceit recollect what it was i read? I employ the spray on type cleaner and was thinking the infant wipe thought would be amend? but dont want to become the wrong kind and ruin any of my stamps.

I've used baby wipes and the staz on cleaner... Acrylic stamps are a piddling fussier than the regular rubber ones... Y'all may want to utilise them with a light color ink first since they tend to stain but it doesnt upshot how they work.

By nature, paint ink is permanent, but does take a lot longer to dry, and won't dry out on some surfaces. Dye ink tends drain if information technology gets wet and will fade over time, merely pretty much one time yous stamp the image, it is dry out. What I would recommend is an archival dye, like Memories ink. It's a dye ink, but permanent and fade resistant, just will dry immediately.

As for cleaners, use whatever you have handy! For the most part, I'll simply use water and a rag. The special stamp cleaners are nice, just not all that necessary. I will utilise them every once in awhile to deep clean my stamps.

PS: Stamping is messy. Just bacause a stamp is stained does not mean it'due south runined. So long equally yous clean it and get all the ink off, all should be well--you can e'er test it out first, particularly if you get from a dark ink to a lighter 1. But make sure your stamp is clean.

The inks can all stain. Just brand sure y'all clean them with the correct stuff--staz-on cleaner will take everything off but some people have reported that it dissolved their stamps. I take not had any problems nevertheless. I prefer dye based inks but in that location are times when Staz-On and paint inks are needed. I say get a multifariousness if you lot are considering doing alot of stamping.

hmmm. I've been using Staz-On ink on my paper with clear stamps and oasis't had a problem with staining. I only apply either a baby wipe, or a wet cloth. Permit us know how it goes!!!

i have likewise heard not to buy the baby wipes with the '???' in them. i do non own any stamps and have not used any all the same, just i call back i read on another thread that it was.. alcohol, maybe? something along those lines that could maybe dry upwards or somehow harm acrylic stamps...

Personally, I like paint inks. I observe that dye inks are not opaque enough. They practice take a while to dry, but patience is a virtue.

Yes, it'south alcohol that you want to avoid in the infant wipes. It'll dry your stamps and and then they can crack (at least rubber stamps, I'm guessing the same with acrylic).

I have stained my clear stamps up so much--anything that has red as a part of it stains them really easily. Yous know, I actually similar them that manner better! I can encounter where I'm stamping even easier. I am very partial to the SU stamp spray and cleaner myself for cleaning the stamps.

As for pigment or dye, I use more often than not dye for the drying time, but I also exercise embossing so I have some pigment likewise. I know the dye inks I have aren't necessarily h2o-proof or fade proof, merely I'k not letting my albums have a shower or sunbathe then I guess I'k not too concerned. (I know, I know, information technology may fade anyway...just making a point. )

I have Staz-on too, but honestly I rarely use it. It'southward a must-have if you're working with transparencies or stamping on glossy photos though.

Those Fall Leaves stamps are the best! They were the commencement articulate stamps I got and I dearest them!

Honestly, I'd try both. I have dye inks, pigment inks and Staz On and utilize them for different purposes. I've plant that dye inks dry quick and almost never stain my clear stamps, but they also don't leave every bit well-baked an image and I've never been able to find a clear, crisp, "nighttime" black or "bright" white dye ink. When it'due south black or white I'1000 looking for (on porous surfaces like newspaper) I reach for my pigment inks. Pigment inks accept longer to dry merely leave a crisp image. And they always, always stain my stamps. Staz On is wonderful if yous want to postage stamp on glossy or coated surfaces like transparencies, photos, glass, plastic etc. They dry almost immediately and get out a existent crisp image. They e'er stain the stamp though. Equally ugly as a stained postage may wait, it doesn't bear on the stamp or the stamped epitome. In terms of cleanup, I've e'er only used water or water and a niggling paw lather.

If you lot want something other than very basic colours of permanent ink, await at Ancient Page and Ranger's line of Archivals -- lots more colour choices than StazOn alone. I've got a pretty hefty drove of all 3.

Holtz's Distress Inks DO dewdrop up on acrylic, no matter how much y'all condition them -- they're supposed to do that, in a way, to give an antique, softer, aged look to stamping with this ink.

Don't neglect fluid chalk inks in thinking most this, either. They give a softer, flatter look when dry than well-nigh inks, almost powdery. They come up in just equally total a colour range equally other inks.

I use about all CTMH ink pads. They're pigment. They go out a well-baked image but take seconds to dry out! Plus, they come in TONS of colors! I've tried other inks (peculiarly when HL had fifty% sales) and the quality was noticeably lower. I likewise utilize the CTMH stamp scrubber and cleaning spray. They work wonderfully to get the ink off (but the reds and purples still stain). Also, some stamps (can't remember what brand but they're at HL) volition naturally turn yellow with age....it's just the formulation of the stamp itself. Many higher quality brands (CTMH, SU, Etc) won't do this (although some older versions did).

Definitely don't employ any booze on acrylic stamps since it'll dry out them out terribly.
